Nobody ever got rich by sitting in front of a television or by doing the same things this year as they did last year. So, if you did want to make some changes in your life, where would you start? For many people the choices they have in life are restricted by their incomes, so possibly the first place to start is to look at where income comes from.

The majority of people have a conventional job. There's nothing wrong with that, providing your expectations are linked to what a job can bring you. For a start, it can never pay you what you are truly worth. The laws of economics are, that a company has to get the most out of its employees for as little as it can get away with paying them. Certainly not a recipe for getting rich, and as we traditionally spend more than we earn most people take have to a part time job to top up their salaries in the hope of breaking even. But what is the alternative?

Well, some people look at going into business. This takes capital, it requires a skill or training. You need to advertise, have premises and equipment, and buy stock.

Even if you have the money to get started, there are no guarantees of success and, in many cases, the odds are stacked against you. Surely there must be another solution.

There is, but many people instinctively shy away from it through ignorance or by having preconceptions. The alternative is Network Marketing. At a time when traditional High Street retailers are finding their profits squeezed and their turnovers down, Network Marketing, as a way of doing business, is enjoying some amazing growth. Some UK based network marketing companies are seeing year on year growth of nearly 30% which compared with the High Street is staggering.

The strength of network marketing is that it harnesses the power of personal recommendation. You are far more likely to eat at a restaurant which has been enthusiastically recommended by a friend. In the same way you are also likely to buy a product or service from a friend who has used it themselves and thinks highly of it. That is really what it is all about, which is why some top plcs have now opened direct selling divisions which use this powerful technique to get their goods to market.

But there is more to it than that. Unlike any other conventional way of earning money, network marketing has the potential to generate unconventional earnings. This is the one area that confuses people into thinking that there is something "just not right" about the industry. In fact, the answer is very simple.

The price that we are happy to pay for goods in a normal retail shop is, in some cases up to ninety percent more than the actual cost of the goods themselves, yet we pay it without thinking. What we are paying for is the cost of the warehousing, distribution, wholesaler, shop rent, staff costs and advertising. Network marketing however doesn't have those costs to pay for.

Instead the goods move straight from the company to the independent distributor leaving it with a substantial margin with which to reward and recognise them - and still charge the same price as the shops.

So, if you want the change to earn something different - they do something different. Put aside you preconceptions and take a fresh look at what network marketing has to offer. You may be pleasantly surprised.
